MAPIC Announces Crowdsourced Sessions

Though MAPIC is less than a month away, the conference’s team has just now finalized two of its session topics and speakers. It might seem a little last minute, but that’s because MAPIC has begun relying on the wisdom of the crowd.

The conference’s Open Stage program allows retail property professionals to pitch topics about innovations in the industry. MAPIC collects those pitches and offers them up to the Internet at large at its Open Stage website.

Visitors can vote on the topics they’d most like to see discussed, ensuring that exciting, timely ideas can make it to the show even if they miss the initial programming window. It’s a program MAPIC tried out last year, and its success guaranteed a return. In fact, this year will see two crowdsourced sessions, building on last year’s single session.

The two candidates that beat out the competition are Mureo.fr, whose managing director Edouard Detaille will discuss, ‘The first digital platform focused on high-street retail with an auctioning system,’ and Coniq, whose CEO Ben Chesser will present, ‘How to build better tenant relationships to maximize shopping centre performance.’ The latter will no doubt be of particular interest to our readers, as Coniq plans to discuss methods of leveraging data to attract the most-suited retailers to your center.

“MAPIC Open Stage is a given opportunity for innovative companies of the retail sector to present their concepts.” Explains Nathalie Depetro. “This year, the use and retrieval of data were core preoccupations of the retail property industry. Those topics will also be relayed in the MAPIC Innovation Forum program.”

MAPIC takes place on November 18-20 in Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France. For more information, visit the conference’s website.
